Absolutely fabulous museum quality early to mid 1800’s men’s silk floral embroidered waistcoat. Done in luscious colors of a rich milk chocolate brown silk beautifully embroidered with a golden floral silk embroidery both on the front of the vest and on the collar. The 5 wood buttons are also all had done and covered with a golden silk needlework embroidery. It appears that this exquisite garment is all intricately hand sewn and lined. I’ve never seen such tiny perfect stitches. The waistcoat appears to have never been worn. The only thing noted are some age stains on the inside lining, tiny tiny spot of wear on edge of collar at back where it’s been folded and several tiny holes in the back cotton under one arm. Condition is absolutely amazing in that there is no other wear, fading, underarm or other stains, tears, etc. As you can see in the photo the back is covered with a dark brown early polish cotton. The lining appears to be a natural cotton with possibly a little linen. Early metal back belt buckle in perfect condition. Measurements: Back – top of collar at neck to bottom of back 23″, underarm 19 1/2″, Edge of shoulder 14″, top of neck to bottom of front 25 1/2″. Underarm to bottom of front 12″ , across front by pockets 21 1/2″. In the photos I have the back spread open and have not pulled the belt together into the buckle. A true collectors item.
